National Civil War Centre, Newark

Woeful Weapons on Friday 30 March to Sunday 15 April

Hear Civil War swordsmith superstar Andrea Ferrara tell all about his mysterious life and the odious knock off merchants who tried to steal his name. Plus get armed to the hilt making your own (cardboard) sword, create a crafty cannon ready for battle and get gory finding out about battlefield injuries and making your own wound to wear home!

These family friendly sessions involve a bit of audience participation and are always good fun.

Family Craft Activities 10am to 4pm every day

  • Armed to the hilt - make and decorate your own cardboard cavalry sword and learn about how swords were used on the battlefield
  • Crafty cannon - make your own portable canon to take home and use in battle
  • The walking wounded - learn what blades and bullets could do to bodies and make your own wound to wear home

Author Rod Campell's best-selling classic lift-the-flap book, Dear Zoo, is being brought to life for the very first time in 2018 as a brilliant new stage production. Celebrating 35 years in 2017, Dear Zoo, published by Macmillan Children's Books, tell the story of a child who writes to the zoo asking them to send a pet, continues to delight each new generation of children as they lift the flaps in search for the perfect animal.

Easter at Millgate Community Centre, Newark

There is a whole range of activities planned over the Easter holidays for adults, children and families. Activities include

Flower basket Workshop - March 31, 10am - 12pm

Join the park ranger and friends from Eaton Avenue Grower Association to create a willoe flower basket to take home with you. Tickets are £10 with all money raised going to the association. Children must be accompanied by an adult. To book please call 07971483601.

Bird Walk - May 27, 8am - 10am

Join the park ranger and conservation officer from Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust for a tour around the park identifying the various bird species and habitats. Get a close up look at various nest sites and hopefully the Kingfisher along the River Devon. To book please call 07971483601.

Family Space - March 24 - April 12.

The Workhouse in Southwell has the family space programme of events over three weeks including crafts and games for Easter. 

Rufford Abbey Easter Bunny Trail - March 30 - April 15, 10:30am - 4pm

Join in the fun and take part in the Special Easter Egg Hunt! Follow the clues to find the eggs and receive a Chocolate Treat once complete. Tickets can be purchased from Visitors Reception. £2 per Trail.

Sconce and Devon Easter Egg Trail - April 1 - April 2

Easter Sunday - Children's Easter Trail, 2pm - 4pm

Easter Monday - Dog Treat Hunt, 10am - 4pm

Easter Sunday Kelham Hall - 10:30am - 4:30pm

Egg Hunt and special Easter lunch offer at Kelham Hall. There will be an Easter Egg Hunt, Activities in the meadow, indoor inflatables, refreshments and have the chance to meet Miss Newark and the Easter Bunny!

Thoresby Easter Egg Hunt

Friday 30 March to Sunday 15 April, daily 10am to 4.30pm.

The Full Moon Inn Easter Trail - Easter weekend, 10:30am - 4pm

For an Easter with a difference you could head to the Full Moon Inn near Southwell. There is a traditional Easter Egg hun on Easter Sunday but also a Scarecrow trail which takes place March 30 - April 2. Vote for the best one!

White Post Farm - 7 April

Head to White Post Farm for a character event. Owlette & Gekko from PJ Masks will be making appearances at intervals throughout the day and there will also be plenty of young animals to put a spring in your step!

Robin Hoods Wheelgate Theme Park - Easter Weekend

There is the Easter Eggstravaganza throughout the school holidays that includes an Easter token hunt with a chocolately reward, seasonal craft sessions and lots of chicks and bunnies to be found in the Animal Adventure Zone. 

Southwell Racecourse Easter Sunday Funday - 12pm

Join in the annual Easter Sunday Funday, a raceday perfect for all the faily. There will be all the thrills of the racing plus lots going on for all the kids.
